Christmas Tree festivals are a great way of the church getting more involved in the local community and celebrating people’s interests, hard work and talents.
At Emmanuel we held our first Christmas Tree Festival over the Advent Sunday weekend – a bit early, but it fits in with the town’s switching on of the Christmas lights and also means that we can invite people back to our other Christmas services. We had 19 groups represented and ended with a Celebration Service to which the groups were invited (and lots came!).
I couldn’t find very much about a service to end the Festival with, so ended up producing my own (based on Common Worship), which you can download below, either as a Word document or as a pdf (unfortunately, I can’t upload Publisher files on WordPress):
- Christmas Tree service text (Word document)
- Christmas Tree service as a pdf, showing the layout and clipart.
I also gave a short talk, based on the legend of Saint Boniface and the first Christmas tree.
